Gave my mother another life

I wish I had more stars to give to Dr. Saurabh. He is such a gem - an expert, highly knowledgeable, empathetic, always available, caring and above everything - keeps the patient and family very well informed and positive during the complete treatment process. We went to Dr. Saurabh in Feb 2022 after a big cancer hospital in East Delhi severely mismanaged the case of my aged mother's flap reconstruction surgery after her oral cancer surgery. The hospital had then advised a complete 8-10 hours re-surgery but the doctor there failed to give any kind of positivity, reason for the first failure or next plan of action. Her condition was worsening day by day and we were anxiously looking for an immediate change to a good Doctor. She had already lost her right cheek, jaw bones and teeth and we could clearly see the inside of the mouth from the big hole in place of her right cheek. She was on a liquid feed through RT with her mental and physical condition deteriorating and we were losing hope. We then somehow very fortunately came to know about Dr. Saurabh. In our first OPD review with him, Doctor not only gave us lot of hope but also advised all the possible options, their pros and cons, exact process, timelines and his own recommendation. We had never been given those options by the earlier treating hospital during her first or suggested second surgery. Weighing on all the options, we surely went for his recommended option only (step by step surgical process for gradual reconstruction instead of all at once process which had a high chance of failure once again. The earlier hospital had only given us the latter option unfortunately, so it was probably going to be a disaster had we continued there). But fortunately, we had come to the best hands. With all the step by step surgical process completing under Dr. Saurabh over subsequent 8-10 weeks, Doctor was always available to us and he kept us very well informed during this complete treatment process. We just needed to stay for minimum needed duration (max 1-2 days) at hospital during each step. He gave my mother lot of positivity too and which made this tough journey easier. He in fact went out of the way many a times to help us in different ways. Today, when I see my mother's mouth completely reconstructed and again feeding through her mouth and her RT tube also removed, I cannot express my feelings. Our elders always tell us that if you do good things in your life, life also gives you back good things when you are in need. Meeting Dr. Saurabh is certainly one of those best things that could have happened to us during our toughest time. I cannot thank him enough in words. He just came as a God to us and there is no other word than God I can use for him. God bless you sir!!
